Martigues and the sea

22 km of unspoilt Mediterranean coast, with a wide variety of fauna and flora, presented and brought to the fore by a Regional Coastal Park.
From Les Laurons to Les Tamaris, creeks and rocky inlets, which are easy to get to, hollowed out from the limestone , still look quite wild, and the port of Carro which has stayed very picturesque and still has traditional fishing going on and a fish market, are dotted along a specially prepared coastal path.

The beaches of fine sand amongst the most significant of the "pearls of the Côte Bleue", are open to all, most of them are looked after and supervised (lifeguards), and for several years have been awarded the Pavillon Bleu (Blue Flag) for the quality of their water for bathing. A naturist beach is open to members of the Fédération Française de Naturisme (French Naturist Federation).
Canoeing, sea kayak canoeing, diving, sailing and beach games are available on this coast. And for those who are a bit more " sporty " the " spot " in the Ragues de Carro, which has an international reputation, is a place where you can admire the agility of surfers and windsurfers on windy days. Activities with no restrictions withthe Nautical Pass from the Tourist Office.
The Cap Couronne lighthouse, which is still operational, the semaphore, and the Sainte Croix chapel, which overlooks the beach of the same name, watch over the safety of fishermen, sailors and yachtsmen.
